Mostly driving, but a vacation none the less..

Was I planning on going on a twelve hour drive to California? No. Was a planning on making the 12 hour drive there and 12 hour drive back in the span of two days? No. Am I glad I went? Yes. So you may be wondering as to how this trip was just suddenly dumped upon me. Well, one chilly Thursday night while making my fabulous plans for the weekend, rival football game Friday, college tours and a party on Saturday, Ashley asked me If there was any way I could help her drive to L.A. to her mission companions wedding. I was torn. I already had plans but I wanted to help her, and why not see a new part of the country while I'm at it, eh? So I decided to go with her.

We left Friday after school. we drove all day, taking three hour rotations. We were in Baker California when we decided we couldn't drive any longer. we pulled into a run down, grungy looking motel, the Bunk Boy Motel. *shudder* It was better than anticipated when we got inside. Ashley was asleep before her head hit the pillow.
When we woke up the next morning we still had about three and a half hours to drive to L.A. I drove, and let me tell you this... L.A.'s freeway system is so confusing! there are about one hundred different roads to choose from, not to mention the stand still traffic to accelerate the confusion and anger! Agghh! But we made it with twenty minutes to spare before the wedding started. While Ashley was in the wedding, I sat in her friends apartment, doing math homework.

When the ceremony was over, it was time for the real vacation to start!

Ashley and I went to Hollywood, which I found a little strange because neither Ashley or I really care at all about celebrities but all in all it was fun. We drove on cute shop lined streets, passed art sales and festivals and took in the freakin' heat! It was 95 degrees. Amongst all the things that we could possibly do, looking at the hands and foot prints of celebrities was top on Ash's list. We finally found where they were located after being dragged into a tourist shop by a over friendly women and then surrounded by strange men with maps and special offers because we were "American". we didn't take there discounted bus ride but we did use the map to find the hands!

It was cooler than I thought it would be. We saw Harry potter,

Frank Sinatra and John Wayne, amongst others.

After having our fill of crowded sidewalks full of strange, weird smelling people we headed to the beach! I wish we would have gone there first so that we could have spent more time there. It was so gorgeous. The sound of the waves is so peaceful. I could have sat there all day! We only had time to walk the beach for a little while, we had to head down to the reception for Ashley's friend.

I'd tell you the rest but really all it is is driving, more driving, oh! and more driving. :)
